Cheapest Android Auto Head Unit

If you think Android Auto is only reserved for deep pocketed people who can afford a brand new car with that feature, then you’re sorely mistaken, because nowadays there are hundreds if not thousands of aftermarket headunits that can be easily installed in most vehicles, refreshing the interior and bringing serious smartphone compatibility into the dash.

A name that pioneers in the car audio industry is worth the trust you’d put in a device that carries its logo; Alpine has been around for a very long time and has mastered the art of making quality products, and the iLX-W650 receiver is no exception.

Despite being a little bit pricey than most receivers we listed here, we believe that this headunit is worth the extra money.

Because the Alpine iLX-W650 is a digital media receiver with no CD/DVD player, it has a shallow-mount chassis design (2-13/16″ deep), making it a great candidate for a smooth installation in many vehicles with depth-challenged dashboard.

Because smartphones are the new supercomputer that allows users to do virtually anything, Alpine brings that familiar experience to your dash with built-in Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™.

This headunit sports 7″ capacitive touchscreen with an enhanced touchscreen experience with swipe control over volume, track-skipping, and more.

Final Thoughts

The cheapest Android auto head units we included here offer the perfect mix of quality and price. They also offer a rich blend of features and cool entertainment options.

We’ve come across many cheaper options, but most of them aren’t anything to write home about because they are either sluggish, or take for ever to boot up.

And if you believe in “you get what you pay for”, car stereos proves that axiom right. It really boils down to this: the more features you want in a headunit, the more cash you’ll have to shell out.
