Cheapest Android Auto Head Unit

If you think Android Auto is only reserved for deep pocketed people who can afford a brand new car with that feature, then you’re sorely mistaken, because nowadays there are hundreds if not thousands of aftermarket headunits that can be easily installed in most vehicles, refreshing the interior and bringing serious smartphone compatibility into the dash.

We’re pretty convinced that the easiest and safest way to use your phone while driving is to connect it to your car headunit. Even those old vehicles can now be equipped with a large touchscreen with Android Auto to seamlessly integrate your Android phone into your vehicle’s audio system and enjoy hands-free calls, Google Assistant interactivity, effortless navigation and on-the-fly entertainment.

Of course, there is a price attached to such luxury. To enjoy a seamless Android Auto integration experience, you’ll have to shell out around $200 for a basic model, and upwards of $500 for some high-end models.

But that’s a small price to pay, as many of these double din headunits are featured with a bunch of other excellent features, such as reversing camera compatibility, Bluetooth, HD radio, Siri Eyes… you name it.

If you’re on a budget, and looking for the cheapest android auto head unit, you’ve come to the right place. We’ve compiled a list of the best cheap android auto head units you can get on right now.

Dual is a brand we haven’t come across very much at all. However, the company offers a wide selection of audio & video products of different types. Their products are reasonably priced, and DMCPA79BT double DIN headunit is no exception.

The Dual DMCPA79BT is one of the cheapest Android auto head units that you can buy now. For the money, this headunit is a definite no-brainer. For less than $200, you get 7-inch capacitive touchscreen that’s fast and responsive to touch, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus a decent array of extra features you’ll truly appreciate. Granted, there are better and well-equipped car stereos but you’ll have to spend much more money.

This receiver boots up quickly and offers seamless smartphone integration as soon as a phone is wired in. It has a rear-mounted USB and Aux inputs, a reversing camera input and three pairs of RCA preamp outputs for expanding your audio system. And, to round things out, it retains operation of your steering wheel controls (with the addition of an extra adapter).

Sound sculpting wise, this headunit sports 10 band equalizer and 7 EQ presets. It’s fitted with 60W x 4 Mosfet amplifier.

On the debit side, you might not like the touchscreen buttons located on the left side of this headunit. Most people prefer physical buttons and rotary knob control instead of touchscreen buttons. Nevertheless, we couldn’t be too mad since this receiver was so affordable.

P.S: This is a Mechless Digital Media Receiver. Which means that it doesn’t play CDs/DVDs.

Final Thoughts

The cheapest Android auto head units we included here offer the perfect mix of quality and price. They also offer a rich blend of features and cool entertainment options.

We’ve come across many cheaper options, but most of them aren’t anything to write home about because they are either sluggish, or take for ever to boot up.

And if you believe in “you get what you pay for”, car stereos proves that axiom right. It really boils down to this: the more features you want in a headunit, the more cash you’ll have to shell out.
